We have been immersed in writing personal narrative. I am teaching many lessons about adding details to your writing, staying on topic, focus, sequence. Then we are looking specifically at sound words, dialogue, and adding feelings. Oh my goodness the children have made so much progress. Their stories have many details and we are being immersed into children's worlds.
This week we did a specific lesson about adding feelings. We learned how to show not 'Show not Tell'. For example instead of saying 'I was happy'. We can say 'I was jumping and smiling'. In stead of saying 'I was mad' you can say 'I was stamping' or 'I was shouting'.
Below are photographs of the children doing an emotion. Then we drew and described the emotions.
